NECS 2025 - Background and Highlights

The Norwegian Environmental Chemistry Symposium (NECS) 2025 builds on a legacy of environmental chemistry conferences that have evolved to support national and international knowledge sharings. Initially launched as small-scale winter meetings in Norway since the 1980ies, NECS has grown into a recurring platform, fostering connections between environmental chemists across the Nordic countries. After a hiatus post-2016, NECS was revived in 2020 to meet the demand for a national forum and has since seen increasing attendance also with international participation.

  • Expected Attendance: Organizers aim to surpass previous attendance records, hoping to welcome over 100 participants.
  • Major Topics to be presented are: • Environmental Monitoring • Sustainable environmental management • Environmental Assessments • Environmental and occupational health • Environmental Technologies • Emerging issues
  • Program: The conference will feature a mix of invited lectures focusing on critical and emerging topics in environmental chemistry as well as contributed oral and poster presentations.
  • Instrument exhibition with vendor presentations featuring latest instrumental and analytical developments.
  • International Scope: While primarily focused on Norwegian professionals, the symposium is open to international participants.

Organized by an independent committee under the Norwegian Chemical Society’s Division for Analytical Chemistry (NKS-FAK), NECS 2025 will provide a rich program for professional networking, sharing of scientific advances, and fostering collaborations in environmental chemistry.
